Motorists using the newly opened A417 route between Cirencester and Gloucester will face a series of overnight closures and lengthy signposted diversions as work continues to finalise the major infrastructure project. National Highways announced that the newly established road layout will be shut during specific overnight hours to allow contractors to progress with crucial tasks, such as completing the Cowley junction for the northbound slip road, working on the Grove Farm underpass, and addressing the Ullenwood roundabout. The initial overnight disruptions take place over the weekend, followed by a continuous block of night-time closures starting on Monday night and running through the week until Friday morning between the A46 Brockworth junction and the Shab Hill junction. Further closures are scheduled for subsequent weekends and deeper into November, affecting routes like the A436 and Leckhampton Hill. Drivers are advised to follow official diversion routes via the A436, Seven Springs, and Cheltenham while these works are underway.
