Following government campaigns advising households to prepare for potential temporary service disruptions with three days of key supplies, nutritional expert Rob Hobson has shared his top recommendations for emergency food stockpiling. Amid high grocery costs, Hobson explains that building a healthy and tasty emergency pantry doesn't require expensive items or cooking facilities. His recommended items include tinned beans, chickpeas, lentils, ready-to-eat rice and grains, tinned fish such as tuna and mackerel, as well as jarred vegetables, UHT milk, and long-life wraps. He also emphasises the importance of flavour enhancers like pesto and soy sauce, bottled water, and practical considerations like checking that grains can be eaten cold and keeping a manual tin opener handy.
